Our SchoolTool trainers are experts in providing training and support for using our comprehensive student management system. Every month, we'll share a tip to help teachers/faculty members, and administrators get the most out of our system. In this month's trainer tip, we'll be exploring district defined alpha scales for assignment scoring.
Most gradebooks use a numeric scale when scoring assignments. For those times when an Alpha scale is needed, like Pass Fail, this can be set up to be available to all teachers.
In the Maintenance module, access the Gradebook Setup and choose the appropriate building, school level, and school year. Once the grade book setup is loaded, an Alpha scale that can be used to score assignments can be added.
Once that is configured, teachers can use the Alpha scale when creating assignments instead of providing a specific number of points.
If using the new gradebook, teachers will choose the "Scale" radio button when creating an assignment to access the Alpha grading scale.
If using the legacy gradebook, teachers will choose the "Other" radio button when creating an assignment to access the Alpha grading scale.
