We’re happy to share that Mindex has released the latest version of SchoolTool, Version 21.4-R1 (Build 12)! This release brings important updates for both database and web servers. Let’s explore the recent features included in this update!

Important Transition: Moving to OAuth 2.0 for Gmail Access

SchoolTool now supports OAuth 2.0 for Gmail. This is available for districts that connect directly to smtp.gmail.com without a relay to support Google's deprecation of "Less Secure Apps" which occurred on September 30. Note that districts using Gmail with a relay will have different steps to perform.

Enhancements for NYS Data Warehouse Compliance

Changes have been made throughout SchoolTool to correspond with NYS Data Warehouse reporting requirements.

This includes new and updated state assessment names, assessment schedules for 2025, state course code changes, one new Career Path Code, one new language code, and the addition of a new Instructor Type code field in the Master Schedule Editor.

New Hybrid Course Option Available

A new option in the Course Catalog allows courses to be designated as hybrid (both traditional and descriptor/standard). Teachers assigned to hybrid courses have access to all grade book screens and functionalities related to traditional and descriptor/standard grades.

RTI Updates for Enhanced Reporting

The RTI Description is now visible on the RTI Detail Report. In addition, RTI Types have been added to the RTI Alert icon hover menu.

Custom Export Filtering: Simplified Data Management

SchoolTool now allows users to filter the list of custom exports using any column in the Custom Export section. This feature is especially useful for districts with many custom exports.

Streamlined Grade Submission Process

The Submit Descriptor/Standard Marking Period Grades Screen has been updated to enhance the grade submission experience. These updates include a new student flyout selector, additional functionality in the student tile, the ability to mass apply comments, and new grid options.

Grading Updates Based on Your Feedback

We’ve made several enhancements to the grade book editor based on your feedback. Here’s what’s new:

  • Renaming the Print Button: The Print button in the top right corner of the Grade Book Editor has been renamed to Reports. Click this button to access all six grade book reports. This change follows an earlier SchoolTool update that made all reports available through the Print button.

  • Working with Standards: There are now additional options for handling standards on assignments. Districts that map standards by course (instead of by subject) can access standards-based grading functionality within the grade book editor.
