Trainer Tip: Mastering the Assume Identity Feature

Featured Image

Did you know that users can access another teacher’s classes and related information by using the Assume Identity feature (provided they have the proper security access—no need for secret agent skills here)? This handy tool can streamline various administrative tasks and facilitate smoother collaboration between educators. Here’s a closer look at how it works and how you can make the most of it:

What is Assume Identity?

Assume Identity is a permission-based feature that grants users the ability to access and manage another teacher’s information from the Home > My Home menu. This feature allows users to perform tasks and view information as if they were the teacher whose identity they’ve assumed, all while maintaining their own permissions. It’s particularly useful for handling specific tasks like submitting attendance, logging CTE (Career and Technical Education) hours, or entering grades on behalf of another teacher.

When assuming the identity of a teacher, their name will be visible at the top of your screen.

Why Use Assume Identity?

Efficient Substitution: If a teacher is absent or on leave, you can step in and manage their classes seamlessly, ensuring that no administrative tasks are left unattended.

Enhanced Collaboration: By temporarily assuming another teacher’s identity, you can better understand their needs and preferences, facilitating more effective teamwork and support.

Track Changes with Ease: All modifications made while using the Assume Identity feature are meticulously tracked. These changes will appear as if they were completed by the original teacher, ensuring clarity and consistency in record-keeping.

How to Use Assume Identity

To begin using the Assume Identity feature, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Faculty List: Go to Faculty > Faculty List.
  2. Select Assume Identity: Click on the Assume Identity button next to the teacher’s name whose identity you need to assume. You will now have access to their classes and related information.
  3. Verify Identity: The teacher’s name will appear at the top of your screen, indicating that you are currently viewing the system from their perspective.
